About the NGO
Ishwar Charitable Trust
Established in 1982, the Ishwar Charitable Trust was founded on the belief that quality eye care should be accessible to all, regardless of income or geography. Driven by compassion and a commitment to social equity, the Trust has dedicated itself to eliminating avoidable blindness and restoring vision to the underserved.
In 1993, the Trust established the ICARE Eye Hospital & Post Graduate Institute, a state-of-the-art center committed to excellence in ophthalmic care, education, and research. Over the past three decades, ICARE has been transforming lives across the National Capital Region (NCR) through its pioneering Rural Outreach Programme.
Operating on an efficient hub-and-spoke model, the programme identifies patients in need at Rural Peripheral Centers (RPCs) and in urban slums, transporting them to ICARE' s base and secondary hospitals for diagnosis, surgery, and post-operative care. All services including treatment, accommodation, meals, and transportation are provided entirely free of cost.
Through its sustained efforts, ICARE has emerged as a beacon of hope, bringing sight, dignity, and opportunity to countless individuals. Guided by its founding vision, the Ishwar Charitable Trust continues to work tirelessly to ensure that no one lives in darkness for want of eye care.
