India Is Us works with NGO to promote Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

New Delhi, 27th May 2018: Sachhi Saheli, an NGO that works with menstrual health and hygiene celebrated World menstrual Day on 27th May 2018 in New Delhi.
The event was inaugurated by Mr Manish Sisodia, Dy Chief Minister and Ms Swati Maliwal, Chairperson Delhi Commission for Women. Over 4,700 children from various schools enthusiastically participated in a 'Pad Yatra'. Asmita Theatre Group presented a thought-provoking street play on taboo subject of periods and menstuation.
The event also saw various interesting kiosks that touched several issues like environment friendly sanitary napkins, alternatives to sanitary pads, myths about periods and maintaining good hygiene during periods.
Dr Surabhi, founder, Sachhi Saheli, has been hosting this event for three years now. With each year, the number of participants and the programs have increased manifold. "My school participates in a skit every year. I learn a lot here. I go home and teach everyone there," said 14-year-old Kanak Gupta.
India Is Us, the official communications partner of the event second time in a row, created and designed the entire communication collaterals for the event.
"We look forward to this event every year. It not only gives a purpose to our work, but also the satisfaction of seeing so many young girls taking menstrual issues in the right spirit," says the India Is Us team.
