India Is Us (i2u Social Foundation) Celebrates Teacher’s Day with the Award Ceremony of the Nation-wide 'India As I See' Contest

Summary: India Is Us (i2u Social Foundation), in association with FairGaze, organized a nation-wide creative contest- India As I See. The online painting, poetry, essay writing competition saw participation from school students and children with special needs (CWSN). Celebrating Teacher’s Day, an award ceremony was conducted wherein 33 winners of the contest across various categories were announced. The event also saw the launch of FairGaze Mobile Application - an app for school students to share knowledge and to participate in SDGs activities, MUNs, co-curricular contests, school events and engage with mentors across multiple domains.

India Is Us (i2u Social Foundation), in association with FairGaze, celebrated Teacher’s Day with an Award Ceremony, marking the successful completion of their online painting, poetry, essay writing competition - India As I See. The nation-wide creativity contest engaged with over 30,000 school students from over 200 schools across India. The award ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Secretary of NCERT Major Harsh Kumar, Child Psychologist Dr. Madhumati Singh, Social Entrepreneur Mr Vipul Sharan, Mentor and Thought Leader Mr. D.Ranganathan, who felicitated 33 winners of the contest across all categories. 

i2u Social Foundation collaborated with various NGOs to sponsor and facilitate participation of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) and underprivileged students in this contest for the very first time. The objective was to ensure underprivileged and differently abled children have access to the same opportunities as available to other children. With more than 25+ NGOs actively engaged in the India As I See contest, hundreds of participants from the CWSN category participated in the first-of-its-kind contest. 

The event was also marked by the launch of the FairGaze App by Major Harsh Kumar. The FairGaze Mobile Application is an app for school students to share knowledge and to participate in SDGs activities, MUNs, co-curricular contests, school events and engage with mentors across multiple domains. 

Congratulating the winners of the contest, Dr Madhumati Singh stressed on the need to be a life-long learner. Mr. Ranganathan further highlighted the importance of keeping the ‘kid’ inside everyone alive and thriving. Appreciating the efforts in organising the India As I See contest, Major Kumar encouraged students to focus more on their skill-building and practical learning. He advocated embracing technology to stay ahead in career. 

Thanking everyone for their active participation, Advocacy Director of i2u Social Foundation Mr. Pranav Menon shared his thoughts on ableism and the imminent need to ensure equal opportunities to CWSN and students from underprivileged sections of the society. He added, “Winning and losing is a part of the game and even if you lose, you win by gaining experience for future.”
