About the NGO

New Life Charitable Trust NLT is a non-profit social restructuring organization, legally registered under the Indian Public Charitable Trust Act in 2014 Registration Number: 36/2014 . NLT was founded by Mrs. Esther Cornelius, the founder and Mr. Y. Herbert Das, Co-founder and Director. Since its inception, NLT has been continually working for grooming poor and distressed children at young ages, promoting health and hygienic practices among underprivileged rural and urban masses, empowering marginalized and vulnerable women and youth and strengthening community development programs for the benefit of downtrodden masses. We are prominently working in Thirupathur and Vellore districts of Tamil Nadu, India.

Mission Statement:

  • Restoring and protecting an equalitarian society with dignity by equipping poor, marginalized and distressed sections with essential knowledge and practice to access socio-economic and services to overcome their specific issues, enhancing their community-based quality participation and engaging them in collective self-reliant actions.

Major Programs of NLT:

R Promoting a Day Care Centre for early child development of tender children belonging to a poor tribal community (Narikuravar in Tamil Gypsy in English).

R Integrating school dropouts and out-of-school children into mainstream education.

R Conducting Children Learning Centers during the evening hours for enhancing supplementary education and extra-curricular activities of the gypsy children.

R Providing quality educational development to gypsy children who are struggling to finish school education and pursue higher education.

R Rendering health education and support to poor people, especially tender and younger children, elderly individuals, poor pregnant and lactating mothers, HIV/AIDS infected persons, lepers and other socially disadvantaged masses.

R Providing relief and rehabilitative support to disaster and epidemic affected families and other essential and protective activities to distressed and abandoned sections.

Expertise of the Staff :

New Life Charitable Trust has experienced board members and programme staff in development activities, especially childcare, children education, women livelihood, healthcare and education and community development programmes. Y. Herbert Das, the Director of NLCT, a postgraduate in social work, has more than 25 years of work experience in health and NGO activities. He has good experience in various sectors like health administration, school administration, tribal development, community development and headed two major HIV/AIDS &ndash target interventions and care and treatment projects. Many programme staffs have more than 5 years of work experience in childcare, children education and health education. Each programme staff is committed and adequately and earnestly involves in carrying out the assigned tasks.
