Differently abled individuals are called &ldquo Divyangs&rdquo in India and friends of Divyangs are called &ldquo DivyangDosts&rdquo . As per a recent World Bank report, 15 of the world s population experience some form of physical or mental challenges. As per India census 2011 (2016 updated) there are about 8 million differently-abled children as against 400 million abled children. Hence, for every differently-abled child (Divyang), there could be 50 potential abled friends. There is hardly any platform promoting connect between abled and differently-abled children. Due to this, instead of being befriended, the differently-abled are being socially isolated. They get financial aid and educational aid, but they are deprived of emotional support and friendship &ndash especially from abled children.DivyangDost Foundation (DDF) is a web-based movement, conceived and run by middle and high school students to promote social inclusiveness of the differently-abled through friendship, music and technology. This online model with brick support uses gamification to enthuse abled and differently&ndash abled children to register and befriend spend quality time with each other over education, picnic, sports, dine, movies, arts, and celebrations upload pictures / videos of their meetups on the website and gain points. It enhances IQs and EQs of the differently&ndash abled and also infuses empathy among abled children. This also act as mutual learning platform for both the groups.
