Miss World Manushi Chillar urges Awareness on Menstrual Hygiene
Summary: Miss World Manushi Chillar along with Miss World representatives from six countries attend event on Menstrual Hygiene Management Curriculum organized by NDMC in association with Miss World Organization held at New Delhi and urges the need for awareness on menstrual hygiene and distributes information booklet developed by Sachhi Saheli in association with India Is Us, to school girls.
New Delhi, February 9, 2018: Miss World Manushi Chillar urged the need for awareness on menstrual hygiene among both the rural and urban women at an event on Menstrual Hygiene Management Curriculum organized by New Delhi Municipal Corporation in association with Miss World Association held on 6 February 2018 at New Delhi. The event was also attended by the Miss World team including Miss World representatives from six countries, who expressed their support to this cause.
"Its unfortunate that so many people are not aware of basic hygiene practices. People do not have easy access to hygiene products. I wanted to bring about a change but like any other 18-year-old then, I did not know how", said Manushi Chillar. She also added that she was inspired by her doctor-parents by their commitment to social work, who supported her with guidance and encouragement.
Information booklets on menstrual hygiene titled 'Mahavari ki Kahaani, Sachi Saheli ki Jubani' was distributed on the occasion. The booklet is an illustration based information on periods in easy to understand Hindi language was developed by Sachhi Saheli in association with India Is Us, a CSR initiative of Crystal Hues Limited, an ISO 9001:2015 company which offers 360-degree communication solutions to over 1,000 companies across the globe.
